Help on Setting up Mail Server:

In this gig, we will setup mailserver as per customer requirement.

BASIC

On Basic package, we will install mailserver on the host. The mailserver could be any of the following incase of linux host.

1. Postfix

2. Qmail

3. Exim

Requirement for Gig:

  1. Server Login - Mandatory

  2. Domain name - Mandatory

  3. Nameserver - Optional

  4. Server Hostname - Optional

How to handle order.

  1. Get the requirements when the customer places an order.

  2. Install mailserver as per customer requirement.

  3. Setup the below record if required.

  1. ‘MX’ record for the domain

  2. ‘A’ record for the server hostname

  3. ‘SPF’ TXT record for the domain(if necessary)

  4. ‘DKIM’ TXT record for the domain(if necessary)

  5. ‘DMARC’ TXT record for the domain(if necessary)

  6. ‘RDNS’ for the server IP address(if necessary)

PRO

On PRO package, we will install mailserver and configure dkim on the host. The mailserver could be any of the following.

In Order to sign the mails, we will install and configure DKIM. We will install opendkim or dkimproxy depends on the mailserver.

We will provide TXT needs to be added on the registrar level for DKIM. The buyer has to add TXT on the nameserver inorder to get signed.

PREMIUM

On PREMIUM gig, we will install mailserver, configure dkim, SPF, help on adding RDNS record. The mail server could be any of the following.

1. Postfix

2. Qmail

3. Exim

Inorder to sign the mails, we will install and configure DKIM. We will install opendkim or dkimproxy depends on the mailserver.

Will you add DNS record on behalf of buyer?

Yes, we do add DNS record incase if the buyer submits nameserver details.

Recent Experience :

Date: 07/01/2019.

End output : For Ubuntu 18.0.4 os is not compatible for webmin/virtualmin and setting up round cube and mail server is difficult.

We have faced the following issues with respect to webmin installation.

1. The webmin control panel was unable to detect the PHP version by default and we were unable to install roundcube mail client.

2. We had installed php 5.6 and php 7.2. However, webmin was unable to detect the PHP version. Later we came to know that Apache was detecting PHP version. So, we had reinstalled apache that helped on detecting PHP version on both apache and webmin

3. Missing php mbstring. The default installation of webmin didnt install php mbstring. So, we had manually installed php mbstring.

4. Dovecot service was not installed by default webmin. We installed the same to get the roundcube to up.

5. SASLD service was missing for roundcube authentication which we were unable to resolve the issue.

The ubuntu 18 is the latest version which has more compatible issue with webmin. We had previously used webmin on Ubuntu 16.04 which worked when setup mailserver.

Note:

Since, Ubuntu 18.04 has many issues, we went with Vestacp control panel. Incase, if you would like to go with webmin then we request you to reinstall the OS with ‘Centos 7’.

Suggestions and Results:

Ubuntu 18.0.4 is good with vestacp control panel.

  1. Need plain server without LAMP stack

CentOS Linux release 7.6.1810 (Core) is compatible with webmin/virtualmin.

For the new domain the initial mail delievery rate will be marked as Junk and blacklist. Even though it has 10 /10 spam score.

Solutions and programs are as follows

Case 1:

We would like to quote the below point for your reference. As per outlook(hotmail), when they receives mail from new IP address may take couple of weeks to attain better reputation. We also suggest you to signup JMRP program and your IP address.

IPs not previously used to send email typically don’t have any reputation built up in our systems. As a result, emails from new IPs are more likely to experience deliverability issues. Once the IP has built a reputation for not sending spam, Outlook.com will typically allow for a better email delivery experience.

New IPs that are added for domains that are authenticated under existing SPF records typically experience the added benefit of inheriting some of the domain’s sending reputation. If the domain has a good sending reputation new IPs may experience a faster ramp up time. A new IP can expect to be fully ramped within a couple of weeks or sooner depending on volume, list accuracy and as long as their junk email complaint rates are kept at a minimum.

Note: don’t forget to update your Junk Email Reporting Program (JMRP) account with the new IPs. To update or set up a JMRP account ”
